Fully integrated team sessions that align with your in season schedule and goals

PURPOSE

Our mission is to offer hockey organizations a tailored skating development plan to improve skating performance without the need for a full-time, on-site skating coach. Our program is customizable, allowing teams to choose options that best suit their scheduling needs, budget, and accessibility to high-level skating coaching. The end result is a more effective and efficient skating team that is better equipped for success on the ice.

We help to improve how players execute team systems by addressing skating inefficiencies that limit speed, balance, efficiency, and repeatability over the course of a season. This program is not designed to replace practice time, but instead is built to integrate seamlessly into existing team structures and scheduling.

From drop in sessions a few times a year to a full-time, fully integrated skating and skills coach, we are here to support the development of your players and your team, setting up your organization for long-term success.

IN SEASON STRUCTURE

At Skate With Power, we understand that every team and organization has different schedules, priorities, and development goals. Because of this, our team programs are built to be flexible and collaborative. Once we begin working with a team, we coordinate directly with coaches and staff to create a development schedule that fits seamlessly into the season.

Programs can be structured in a number of ways, including:

Monthly Development Visits

A consistent touchpoint throughout the season where we return once per month to build and reinforce skating concepts over time.

Integrated Development Programs

A deeper partnership where Skate With Power becomes a more regular part of the team’s development environment.

No matter the structure, every session is designed to build efficient skating mechanics and ensure those movements translate directly into game situations.

Targeted Development Sessions

A select number of sessions scheduled at key points during the season to focus on specific skating mechanics or team needs.

CURRENT ORGANIZATIONS

utah mammoth | Nhl

Our Founder and Co-Owner, Lars Hepso, has been working with the Mammoth organization since their time as the Arizona Coyotes. He is one of the longest serving members of the player development staff, serving as the team’s skating coach since 2018. In his role, Lars works closely with players at the NHL level while also playing a key role in the development of the organization’s prospects in the AHL and their drafted prospects.

penticton vees | WHL

Co-Owner Mark MacMillan serves as the Director of Skating and Skills Development for the Vees. Mark works closely with the team throughout the season and is on the ice with the group two to three times per week during practice. He also runs skating-specific development sessions when the schedule allows and leads pre-practice skills sessions, frequently working with players in positional groups to focus on the unique development needs of forwards and defensemen. These targeted sessions allow players to refine position-specific skating patterns, puck skills, and game movements within the team environment.

Co-Owner Mark MacMillan and Director of Defensive Development Adam Plant lead monthly skating development sessions with the teams at OHA. Each team receives one dedicated skating session per month, with every session built around a specific skating concept such as stride mechanics, tight turns, or defensive skating. This focused approach allows players to build a deeper understanding of key skating movements while reinforcing habits over the course of the season. Every player is filmed during the sessions and receives access to their video, allowing them to review their skating and better understand the technical details being taught on the ice.
