MEET THE WORLD LEADER IN HOCKEY SPECIFIC SKATING.

final full.png

THE BEGINNING

For anyone who grew up playing hockey, there’s a love for the game that is often hard to explain. The excitement of stepping onto the ice, the bond shared with teammates, and the lessons learned along the way create something far greater than the game itself.

Skate With Power was built on that love.

Developed in Canada, Skate With Power was created to help enhance those experiences and give players greater opportunities to reach their potential. Too often players are limited not by passion or effort, but by access to the right guidance and development.

We saw the gap between dreams and reality and recognized an opportunity to help bridge it.

This company is the result of early mornings, late nights, and countless hours dedicated to the pursuit of improvement. It was built with the goal of helping athletes push their limits and discover what they are truly capable of.

Just like the players who walk through our doors, we continue to evolve, learn, grow, and work.

Skate With Power began with a love for the game and a desire to help others.

Little did we know…

That was only the beginning.

VALUES

What are we trying to achieve?

At Skate With Power, everything we do is guided by one belief:

The simple answer is developing better hockey players. At Skate With Power, it’s much more than that.

While building better athletes is our primary goal, we believe the process of development should also help shape better people. The habits that lead to success on the ice are the same habits that lead to success in life.

Our approach to development is rooted in the belief that improvement doesn’t happen by accident. It comes from training with clear purpose, approaching every drill with intention, and paying attention to the small details that separate good from great.

The following values form the pillars of our philosophy:

  • Purpose

  • Intention

  • Detail

  • Precision

  • Work Ethic

  • Determination

The world we live in is a fragile one. By helping develop better athletes and better people, we hope to play a small role in creating a positive impact beyond the rink.

  • Consistency

  • Commitment

  • Perseverance

  • Kindness

  • Honesty

  • Positivity

Train With Purpose.       Train With Intention.        Train With Precision.

OUR METHODOLOGIES

Founded by NHL Skating Coach Lars Hepso, Skate With Power is built on years of studying how skating actually works in the game of hockey. His methodologies form the foundation of all SWP curriculum and continue to evolve as we learn more about what separates elite skaters from the rest.

This isn’t traditional power skating.

Our approach focuses on game-specific movement, helping players develop skating that translates directly into real hockey situations. Every drill, concept, and progression is designed with one question in mind: Does this help a player move better in the game? Over years of analyzing in-game skating, several principles consistently appear in the world’s best players. These principles form the foundation of our development model. We're proud to be a leader in our industry. The best part? Your success is our success.

SKATING PRINCIPLES

Knees Over Toes

Elite skaters generate power from a strong athletic base. Think of an athletic posture off the ice doing a reaction or speed drill. By keeping the knees positioned forward over the toes, players are able to stay athletic and mobile, maintain balance and efficiency while accelerating, turning, and transitioning.

Hips Over Skates

Balance and mobility come from proper alignment. When a player's hips are stacked over their skates, they are able to control their edges and transfer energy efficiently through skating movements. This alignment allows players to remain stable while still being explosive and quick in any direction.

Body Weight and Weight Transfer

Many players are taught to think about skating as pushing with their feet. In reality, elite skating is driven by body weight, balance, and weight transfer. The best skaters move their center of mass efficiently, allowing gravity and momentum to assist their movement rather than fighting against it. This creates smoother, more powerful skating that requires less energy and produces more speed.

Always in a Position to Move

The game of hockey is built on constant changes of pace and direction. Players who are locked into static positions struggle to react. Our goal is to teach athletes to stay in a dynamic athletic stance that allows them to accelerate, change direction, and react instantly.

Game-Specific Development

Every skating concept we teach is designed to translate directly into the game. Acceleration, Edge control, Transitions, Tight Turns, Linear and Curvilinear Crossovers. Players don’t just learn drills. They learn how to move efficiently in hockey situations. At Skate With Power, development is never random. Everything we teach is done with purpose, intention, and precision.

COMMITMENT TO DEVELOPMENT

The Skate With Power Difference: What separates Skate With Power from traditional skating programs is our focus on game-specific movement and individual development. We don't simply run drills. We analyze how players move in real hockey situations and build training environments that replicate those demands.

  • Our programs emphasize:

  • Game-transferable skating mechanics

  • Small group coaching and individual feedback

  • Detailed video analysis when applicable

  • Progressions built for long-term development

Every player receives instruction designed to help them move better, think faster, and compete with confidence.

We work with players across all levels of hockey development.

  • Minor hockey players building strong skating foundations

  • Academy and junior players preparing for the next level

  • NCAA and professional players refining elite movement patterns

While the level of play varies, our approach remains the same: helping every athlete reach their highest potential.

At Skate With Power, development is an ongoing process.

We are constantly studying the game, analyzing skating mechanics, and evolving our curriculum to ensure our athletes receive the best possible training.

Just like the players we work with, we are always striving to improve.

TRAIN WITH PURPOSE. SKATE WITH POWER.
